What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile, disposable needles in order to allow the free flow of energy or QI throughout the meridians in the body. When QI is blocked, it impairs the flow of energy to the organs and meridians, creating an imbalance. With proper Chinese Medicine Assessment which includes Pulse and Tongue diagnosis, needles will be inserted into acupuncture points along the affected meridians to balance the body allowing for healing from within.
Will Acupuncture Hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely small. Upon insertion of the needle, one may feel a quick sensation like a mosquito bite. Within about a minute, the sensation goes away and the needles are hardly noticeable.
Does Insurance Cover Acupuncture?
At Eastbridge Wellness, we are in network with most insurance companies; and many medical insurance plans do cover Acupuncture Services. We offer full billing services, so if you have any questions about your coverage, just contact us and we will be happy to verify your benefits. If you are in an Automobile Accident, your PIP will cover Acupuncture and you do not need a referral to come and get treated right away. Let us know how we can help get you the care you need!
Do I need to do anything special before coming to an appointment?
It is not recommended to come on a completely empty stomach or highly caffeinated. We usually keep snacks around if you need to eat something prior to your session. If possible, wear loose comfortable clothing and allow yourself 4-6 hours after your session to avoid rigorous physical activity. Stay hydrated before and after your treatment.
What can I expect from my Acupuncture treatment?
Most people feel wonderful and relaxed after their Acupuncture session. Often, you will get a 25-30 minute nap or meditative relaxation while on the table. If you are coming in with an acute painful condition, you may feel significant relief immediately or within 24 hours after your session.
For more chronic issues, several sessions are usually necessary to see a significant change. You don’t need to be sick or in pain to get benefits from Acupuncture. Acupuncture is a great self care modality for reducing stress and as a preventative therapy for overall health and well being.
